Mudgee Brewing Company
We went to Mudgee on the weekend, and visited a few wineries (nothing unusual there!). But we did go to a new brewery, the Mudgee Brewing Company. As of July 1st they'll be allowed to sell and people can sample their wares, but in the mean time you can try their brews at many of the local pubs in Mudgee - we tried their Pale Ale at the Red Heifer, and it was great!

Titan Premier Larger
Titam Premium Larger is an Australian brewed beer, and is a rather refreshing beer with an easy style. The taste is not too strong or overpowering, and Titan comes in a 330mL bottle. With a 4.7% alcohol, each bottle contains 1.2 standard drinks. Titan is a product from the Independent Liquor Group, and can be found (with minimum searching) in most bottle shops, in some for $10 a six pack.

Bintara Brewery Pale Ale
Vintara, the winery based in Rutherglen, brings us another great drop from its Bintara Brewery: Pale Ale. Pale Ale is a pleasant tasting beer with a full flavour that lingers on long after the beer has left your mouth. Pale Ale comes in a 330mL bottle, and boasts a 4.5% alcohol content that means each bottle has 1.4 standard drinks. A six pack of Pale Ale should sell for about $20 - but only from the Cellar Door!

Bintara from Rutherglen
Vintara Winery in the Rutherglen region sports a brewery - and this brewery brews a rather great drop of beer.
Called 'Bintara' (get it - Vintara with a 'V' for vineyard (I don't suppose they could have called it 'Wintara' with a 'W' for wines... sounds a little odd) and Bintara with a 'B' for beer and brewery?) they produce a refreshing and surprisingly smokey ale in their Crystal Wheat brew. With an alcohol content of 4.5% and 1.4 standard drinks in their 330mL bottle, it comes in a six-pack for about $20. Keep an eye out for it when you next visit this beautiful area of Victoria!

Rutherglen
We recently travelled to the Rutherglen wine region in northern Victoria. I love the area, not only because of the wineries (the toquays and muscats - mmmmm!) but because it is such a nice side of the country. I'll be reviewing some of the drinks we sampled here, so stay tuned!

Byron Bay Premium Ale
A full strength 5% alcohol beer in a 330mL bottle, with no chemicals, preservatives or added sugar. Brewed under licence for Byron Bay Beverages, this has a clean crisp taste with a hint of sweetness. Those who enjoy Hahn Premium or Blue Tongue Larger will appreciate the characteristics of Byron Bay Premium Ale. This is hard to track down in bottle shops at the moment, but with popularity increasing it should be easier in the New Year. A case should cost about $50, give or take, and a six pack no more than $17-$18.
